Barney Top

ca. 1920

2002

Description:

Plate 107X. Barney Top ca. 1920-2002 Viewed north along the eastern rim of Barney Top with Griffen Top in the distance. The original photograph was probably taken late in the fall after the aspen had dropped their leaves. Aspen on the talus slope below the rim has successfully regenerated because on such sites, ungulate herbivory is limited by steep slopes and surrounding boulder fields. Conifers have invaded some of the aspen stands. Otherwise, there has been little apparent change.
