Aspen-Mirror Lake

1938

2004

Description:

Plate 599X. Aspen-Mirror Lake 1938 – 2004 Viewed northeast along the south shore of Aspen-Mirror Lake on the Dixie National Forest. Livestock use has been eliminated (see Plate 589x) and lakeshore riparian vegetation, including willows, has increased. Conifers, primarily spruce and ponderosa pine, have increased, while aspen has declined. Some aspen around the lake, however, has successfully regenerated because ungulate herbivory has been reduced (Kay and Bartos 2000).
