Where are Rangelands? Rangelands of the World Rangelands are Everywhere! The many different types of rangeland together form the largest part of the earth's land surface - about 45 percent! The United States is composed of about 36 percent rangeland, and rangelands cover over 80% of Utah! Utah Rangelands Rangelands cover a diverse topography in Utah - from desert canyons to spectacular mountains with numerous lakes and streams. We find rangelands on National Forest Lands and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Lands. It is the major land type of our many state and national parks, monuments, and recreation areas. It is a major landtype on Indian Reservations within the state, and is also found on the outskirts on many of the cities and towns we live in. This makes Utah a major attraction for people seeking outdoor recreation activities.
