History of the San Juan Ranch Horse Sale and Series…

                The San Juan Ranch Horse Series was organized with a twofold purpose.  First, offer an effective approach for providing education that would help local ranchers who depend on horses to operate their cattle enterprises in the rough desert country of southeastern Utah.  Secondly, initiate some kind of market where older cowhorses from area ranches could be marketed as top notch recreational horses.

                In the past, once a ranch horse reached the age that it could no longer stand up to the rigors of everyday work it was taken to the local sale barn and sold for “killer” prices.  This was an incredible waste of an animal that still had many good years ahead as a recreational horse.  People from all over the West are looking for horses that are highly trained and have experienced almost every situation possible on the trail and in the mountains.  The San Juan Ranch Horse Sale is a forum where interested buyers can come and find those seasoned, “bomb-proof” horses they are looking for.
