Question

Q

What if my spouse is uncooperative?

Answer(s)

A

This is a difficult question.  If your spouse is willing to live on a budget, their budget can be accounted for in the spending plan just like any other expense.  As long as your spouse stays within the agreed upon budget, their expenses will function just like any other monthly expense.

If your spouse refuses to live within a mutually agreed upon budget, this is a relationship issue.  It is important to try to understand why your spouse is unwilling to cooperate.  Often spouses have feelings about money that we are not aware of.  Getting these feelings out in the open can help us understand their perspective.

It is important for both people to understand that money is one of the leading causes of marriage failure.  Couples should know that financial Infidelity can be as destructive to a marriage as physical infidelity.
