In preparation for The Great Utah ShakeOut, the USU Extension will hold a Disaster/Preparedness Open House from April 7 through April 17, 7 am to noon, and 1 pm to 6 pm.  A disaster/preparedness display will be in the Extension office, 160 North Main, Nephi, during these dates with resources on many different subjects relating to being prepared ahead of time for emergencies and disasters that may happen.  Some resources available:  sheltering in place, earthquake preparedness, financial readiness, 72-hour kits, food safety, creating a family emergency plan, creating an evacuation Ready File, mini first aid supply list, food storage, and much more.
At 10:15 am on April 17, 2014, thousands of Utahans will drop, cover, and hold on in this annual statewide earthquake drill.  We encourage all Juab County Residents to register at and participate in this important event to help individuals and families be prepared for an earthquake emergency.  A variety of activities and informational video clips to utilize are also on the website.
Register now even if you need to hold your drill at another time or day.  Pass the word on to your family, friends, and neighbors to register.  Go to for more information on emergency preparation.
