Various Ag Workshops
Small Grains and Alfalfa Hay
On Thursday, January 24th, Juab County Extension will be sponsoring an alfalfa hay and small grains workshop for anyone interested. The meeting will be held at the Juab County Cultural Hall, 160 North Main, in Nephi from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Enter the building using the northeast doors.
Dr. Earl Creech, USU Agronomist, will be the presenter. The meeting will cover several items including management of small grains, alfalfa hay, and safflower. All producers that currently have a Utah Pesticide license will receive 2 CEU credits for attending. We would encourage all of you to attend this workshop.
On Thursday, February 7th, in cooperation with the Farm Bureau, Juab County Extension will be sponsoring a pesticide workshop for anyone interested. The meeting will be held at the Juab County Cultural Hall from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Farm Bureau Safety specialist A. J. Ferguson, will be the presenter. The meeting will cover the following three areas: label is the law, pesticide record keeping systems, and pesticide safety. All producers that currently have a Utah Pesticide license will receive 2 CEU credits for attending. We would encourage all of you to attend and learn more about pesticide management.
Diversified Agricultural Conference
The 10th annual Diversified Agriculture Conference will be held February 20-22nd , 2013 in Ephraim, Utah.
There is an exciting conference planned that will give conference participants the opportunity to engage in hands-on workshops including developing marketing assessments, communicating with customers electronically, and analyzing potential enterprises.
Conference Highlights include: Value Added Agriculture, Recreation, Tourism Direct Ag Marketing, Farmers Markets, and Further Agriculture Processing.
The conference fees will be approximately $40 for early registration and $60 for late registration. Visit the website at www.diverseag.org for registration information.
Utah Weed Conference
On February 26-27th, the Utah Weed Association will be holding their annual conference in Richfield.
It will cover a wide range of topics including noxious weed control, crop weed control, invasive weed management efforts, and what’s new in the industry.
All producers that currently have a Utah Pesticide License will receive CEU credits for attending. The conference will start at 9:00 am on the 26th and go to 4:30 pm on the 27th. The registration fee is $65. To register for the conference go to www.utahweed.org.
Utah Beef Cattle Field Day
‘Technology Advances in Beef Reproduction’ is the theme for the Annual Utah Beef Cattle Field Day which will be held Monday, February 11th, 2013 at the BYU Conference Center, 770 East University Parkway, Provo, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Topics to be covered include: Fetal Programming-Implications on Overall Herd Productivity, Protein and Energy Needs Related to Nutrition, What is IBR doing to My Herd!, EPD’s-Bigger Isn’t Always Better, and Profit from Improving Reproduction.
Registration fee is $25.
Water Users’ Workshop
St. George will be host site for the 2013 Utah Water Users’ Workshop on March 19-20th. The conference will cover a wide range of topics including water quality standards, water rights, legislative updates, canal safety, groundwater trends, and Utah water outlook.
