2013 USU Extension Related Volunteer Activities
Farm Field Days!
Monday & Tuesday March 25th & 26thth 9am-3pm
March 25th & 26th from 9am-3pm at the Diamond Z Arena. Each year extension holds a large educational event for all the 3rd graders in the county. We set up 8 different stations that the classes rotate through. I run the water conservation station, which consist of a 15 min educational activity. Repeating the same thing over and over again to different groups of 3rd graders gets exhausting, I would love a partner to rotate with. The activity is simple, fun and easy to learn. Lunch will be provided. No training necessary J.

Information Booth @ the Paiute Health Fair
Saturday March 30th 9am-12:30pm
I am looking for two volunteers to man an information booth at Paiute Health Fair. Healthy eating is the events theme, so I’ll gear the booth’s educational materials towards that topic. You will be asked a lot of questions and there is nothing wrong with saying “I don’t know”. Don’t hesitate to pass out my contact information & ask people to call the Extension office. The event runs from 9:30am-12:30pm on Saturday March 30th at the Cedar/Indian Peaks Tribal Head Quarters. I would like you there at 9am to set up the booth materials. If one of you could stop by the Extension office and pick up the booth materials on Thursday or Friday and then return them on the following Monday that would be great!

Information Booth @ the Preparedness Expo
Saturday April 20 9:00am-4:00pm
I am looking for two volunteers to man an information booth at 2013 Iron County Preparedness Expo. You’ll be offering educational material, answering questions about the master gardener program & general gardening questions, but only if you feel comfortable, don’t hesitate to ask people to call me at the Extension office. The event runs from 9:00am-4:00pm on Saturday April 20th at Canyon View Middle School. I think I will be able to set up the booth materials the night before, but I’m waiting for a call back. I’ll keep those that sign up in the loop. If someone could return the booth materials to the office on the following Monday that would be great!

Information Booth @ Lady Bug Nursery
Every Saturday in April & May 10am-4pm
I am looking for two volunteers to man an information booth at Lady Bug Nursery. You’ll be offering educational material, answering questions about the master gardener program & general gardening questions, but only if you feel comfortable, don’t hesitate to ask people to call me at the Extension office. The booth will be set up from 10am-4pm every Saturday in April & May. Bring a lunch, snacks and drinks along with you. If the weather is bad we’ll cancel the booth. It’s pretty boring to sit there and not talk to anyone. If one of you could stop by the Extension office and pick up the booth materials on Thursday or Friday and then return them on the following Monday that would be great!

Gardening Days Info Booth @ Lady Bug Nursery

I am looking for two volunteers to man an information booth at Lady Bug Nursery’s Gardening Days. You’ll be offering educational material, answering questions about the master gardener program & general gardening questions, but only if you feel comfortable, don’t hesitate to ask people to call me at the Extension office. The booth will be set up from 9am-4pm on Saturday May 18th. Lady Bug will be offering free Hamburgers & Hotdogs. If one of you could stop by the Extension office and pick up the booth materials on Thursday or Friday and then return them on the following Monday that would be great!
