USU Extension Sponsors Advanced Successful Sitter Camp

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah State University Extension in Salt Lake County presents “Advanced Successful Sitter Day Camp: Babysitting Adventures,” held July 29 to 31 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Copperview Recreation Center, 8446 South Harrison Street (300 West) in Midvale.

The day camp is geared toward youth ages 13 to 16 and those who attended the basic Successful Sitter Day Camp. Participants will obtain a Food Handler Permit and become certified in CPR/AED and first aid.

“The advanced babysitting class will provide youth with the necessary tools to have a wonderful babysitting experience,” said Ashley Anderson, USU Extension family and consumer sciences intern.

Anderson will teach the class along with Marilyn Albertson, USU Extension family and consumer sciences associate professor. Over the three-day course, a babysitting kit will be assembled by participants and will include items such as a book, games for various ages, home science projects for various ages and activity grab bags for on the go.

Youth who register for the day camp will also be enrolled in 4-H. With the 4-H membership, youth can enter their babysitting kit in the Salt Lake County Fair held Aug. 8 to 11.

Cost for the three-day camp is $70 per person and includes certifications. Those who participated in the basic camp are eligible for a discount.
