Weed Control & Water Conservation Intern

Internship duties:
- Biological weed control survival reports, trapping and determining survival of biological weed control agents;
- Determine presence or absence of invasive phragmities along the Price River. Involves floating stretches of the river or hiking into remote locations;
- Landscape water audits in Carbon County. Determine efficiency of landscape irrigation systems. May involve recruiting some homeowners to participate in the water audit.

Internship duties: Environmental Stewardship Extension internship located at the Utah House, Utah State University Botanical Center in Kaysville. This internship includes 6 weeks serving the public in the USUBC K-6 field trip education program, 10 weeks in the Utah House Aggie Camp program and educating the public by giving general tours of the Utah House and water-wise landscape. The work with the Aggie Camps includes working with a group of youth volunteers. The intern will work with Utah House staff maintaining the UH garden, including the raised-bed demonstration garden.
Transferring Organic Vegetable Production Techniques to Utah’s Organic Community

Internship duties: Assist with data collection, data management, and day-to-day operations of vegetable research at the Kaysville Research Farm. Work will include exposure to onions, sweet corn, asparagus, beans, and broccoli.
-Help organize and conduct tours for the Kaysville Farm Field Day scheduled for August 16. Discuss research and how it can help Utah farmers.
-Work on organization of existing research findings and use that information to populate the USU organic website. Work would include report writing, fact sheet development, organization, and publications.

The person working in this internship would obtain the relevant census data and then provide the updates on WRDC forms. The intern would then help with reports. In the process, the intern would learn a great deal about the region and its changing demographics.

Internship duties: Help plan and develop key 4-H Centennial events being held this summer and fall. Plan and develop State contests and alumni events during the Centennial Celebration. This person will help with all aspects of the event including: planning, marketing, registration, coordination with county staff and volunteers, and preparation and implementation of the event. As several events are being held at the same time, they will help make sure that things run smoothly and help county and state staff. This person will also help plan and develop other Centennial events and activities taking place on a county and state level, including State Fair.
