With Emphases in Information Technology and International Economics
Degree Objectives
The Interdisciplinary Bachelor Degree builds on a solid foundation provided through the Associate of Science Degree, this bachelor degree affords students broad based educational experience and training in information technology and international economics. Students are exposed to specialized training in various fields of business, providing a greater understanding of free enterprise business in global context and develop skills in computer and business systems, electronic commerce, and principles of accounting and economics. Through out the interdisciplinary degree program, students are immersed in English as a global, economic language, and are exposed to an in-depth experience in the American culture.
Program Description
A student majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies must complete at least 45 credits in the Interdisciplinary major and satisfy all graduation requirements at Utah State University. Courses taken for this degree represent a coherent, planned program of study, which involves two disciplines: Information Technology and International Economics. Courses used to fill University Studies (general education) requirements may not be applied to the major.
Major Requirements
Students who have completed the Associate of Science Degree from Utah State University must complete a minimum of 60 credits of additional course work as stipulated in the Bachelor of Science Interdisciplinary Studies Degree Requirements. Courses used to meet the 45-credit minimum Interdisciplinary Studies Major requirements may come from the major departments with the following restrictions.
- At least 21 of the 45 credits must be numbered 3000 or above.
- 2. Courses used for the major must include at least 15 credits each from Information Technology and International Economics.
- Students must pass every course approved in the program of study and earn a composite GPA of at least a 2.0 in the 45 credits used for the major.
American Institutions
All Graduates are required to have an understanding of the fundamentals of the history, principles, form of government, and economic system of the United States.
Total Credits
One hundred and twenty credits and GPA 2.0 or better are required for graduation.
Upper Division Credit
Minimum of 45 credits of upper division work (credits numbered 3000 or above) are required for graduation.
Transfer Credit
Evaluation of transfer credit is done by request on an individual basis. Students must submit an official transcript or certified copy of all higher education institutions attended for which transfer credit is requested. All transcripts not in English must have an English translation with an explanation key also in English to evaluate the transcripts as to the grading system used and how the value of the credit is determined. Students should provide the address and location of the institution for which they are requesting transfer credit.
Transfer credit that is awarded may or may not fulfill degree requirements of Utah State University. Requested transfer courses, which are clearly equivalent to required courses at Utah State University may fulfill degree requirements. Other transfer credits will be used as elective credits at discretion of the International Undergraduate Advisor. Credit taken at another institution that is deficient, i.e. D+, D, or F, cannot be used to fulfill any required course or elective credit for the degree. Requested transfer courses for which there is not corresponding courses at Utah State University cannot be used to fulfill required or elective courses.

Students are required to take two upper-division courses outside of their major. Approved 300-level or above courses must be taken from two of the following three categories: Depth Humanities and Creative Arts (DHA), Depth Life and Physical Sciences (DSC), and Depth Social Science (DSS).
