USU EXTENSION 4-H TRY PROGRAM SIGN UPS
LOGAN ? Utah State University Extension 4-H sponsors Teens Reaching Youth training in Carbon and Beaver counties Nov. 14.
The TRY program is designed to help students in grades 8 through 12 develop skills in teaching and mentoring younger youths. Those attending the training can choose from the topics fun, food and fitness or robotics. Students are trained as teams made up of two to four teens with an adult coach. Those trained commit to teach at least six hours of instruction in the project area to at least 15 youths during the year. The training is free and students do not have to be involved in 4-H to participate.
“The program creates a win-win situation as TRY teams will leave the training with skills and resources to teach interactive topics within their local communities,” said Donna Carter, USU Extension 4-H agent in Weber County.
Registration deadline is Nov. 1 and can be done through a local county Extension office. Contact Carter for further information at 801-399-8209 or donna.carter@usu.edu.
