USU Extension Co-Sponsors Utah Green Conference

LOGAN, UT – Utah State University Extension co-sponsors “Utah in Bloom,” the 2011 Utah Green Industry Conference and Trade Show held Jan. 24 through 26 at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy.

The conference is intended for those in the Utah green industry, including landscape designers, contractors and managers, arborists, garden center personnel, greenhouse growers and anyone who works with plants on a professional level. The program includes workshop tracks on irrigation, landscape design and construction, garden centers and greenhouses, trees, turf and sports turf and information for landscape professionals. Included in the program are opportunities for continuing education credits for pesticide applicators, certified arborists and others. A trade show will be held Tuesday from noon to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to
3 p.m.
The keynote speaker is Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. He will address the conference theme, “Utah in Bloom,” and looking for ways to grow business in Utah during and after bad economic times. Other speakers include Tom Shay, author, certified speaking professional and a fourth generation merchant and Jonathan S. Matteson, director of marketing for Kellogg Garden Products. They will address the garden center and greenhouse professionals. Brent Mecham, industry development director for the Irrigation Association will address irrigation professionals.
