Get Financially Smart with UTAH Saves Week

Utah Saves Week is an initiative aimed at bringing together hundreds of Utah institutions and organizations in a concerted effort to increase awareness. Our goal is to promote greater household savings and reduced debt so that all Utahns are building wealth. Based in part on Money Saves Weeks organized by the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank, it is celebrated by all Saves campaigns around the country and, perhaps eventually, inspire a National savings month endorsed by the United States Congress.  The primary focus of Utah Saves Week is to encourage Financial Action – commitments to save, invest and build wealth. Thank you to everyone who participated in Utah Saves Week 2007! It was a huge success.

“About 18 months ago I attended a Utah Saves class taught by Utah State University Extension. I received a piggy bank with instructions to set a goal on how to spend the money that I saved.  So for the next 18 months every time I had pocket change it went into the bank.  I only saved silver money, no pennies.  It was amazing how fast my little piggy filled.  I never realized how much that little pig would hold.  About six weeks ago my little pig was full.  I emptied it and rolled the coins.  I had a total of $96.00!  My entire family was in shock.  My goal was to use the money on a vacation.  I don't know how far $96.00 will take me, but my bank is growing again.”
