Question
Q
I would like to fertilize for weeds, but it has been so hot lately. Is there anything I can do this time of the year to kill weeds in my lawn, and if so, should I use granules or a spray?
Answer(s)
A
It is indeed very hot, and this limits the types of weedkillers you should apply. I recommend spot-treating weeds with a sprayer unless the weed infestation is really bad. Here is a link to the USU Extension publication "Yard and Garden Weed Control", http://extension.usu.edu/files/publications/HG508.pdf. This is a great reference tool for controlling weeds, but it assumes you know which weeds you are trying to control.
