Youth and Families with Promise YFP

The Youth and Families with Promise (YFP) 4-H youth program is offered in two areas in Garfield County. This 4-H program is designed to offer service/leadership roles ( with opportunity for College credit) to a High School Junior or Senior (mentor) who one-on-one mentors a fifth grade student (mentee). Through once a week face to face, written, or phone contact  youth work on essential assets needed to better face the everyday challenges of life.

Once a month or as scheduled YFP participant's families have the opportunity to be part of 4-H YFP Family Night Out (FNO). This is an activity where families get to participate in strengthening family ties, work on communication, find family traditions, be a part of service and so much more.

The YFP program is a 4-H program just like any other 4-H project and the participant in YFP can be part of all 4-H has to offer like; 4-H Camp, County Contest, State Contest, JYC, Portfolio contest, and the County Fair just to name a few.

Enrollment in the YFP program is limited. If you are interested in being part of Garfield Coutny Youth and Families with promise please contact your area site coordinator.

" Family Night Out was great and just what our Family needed, Thank You" 2011 Esc. Mentee Parent

"I Love the mentoring program I wish I could do it every year" 2010 YFP Mentee

"When I was asked if I was interested in joining the Youth and Families with Promise Mentoring Program, I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. I though sure I can spend sometime each week with a younger student and I tentatively said yes. I didn't realize what I myself would gain from the program: new insight, new goals, and most importantly, a new friend" 2010 and 2011 Escalante 4-H Mentor, Hailey McLemore.
