Cornaceae or the Dogwood Family

 

 
  A shrub that is native to Utah's mountains in moist areas near streams, and also makes an excellent landscape plant with its bright red stems in winter. A cultivar, 'Flaviramea' also is available with bright yellow stems. Zones 2-8.
