Pinyon-Juniper forest is the first and last forest type you will see along this byway. Pinyon-Juniper forest or woodland occurs between 4,500 and 8,000 ft. in elevation on dry and intensely sunny sites. This forest type generally marks a transition from sagebrush dominated landscapes to forest dominated landscapes and vice versa.
