The Bristlecone Pine, Pinus longaeva, is the oldest living species known. They grow slowly but live long, the oldest being over 4700 years old. They like dry, sunny sites and high elevations, often on high windy ridges. They grow throughout the Utah and Nevada great basin area and California. This Bristlecone Pine is over a thousand years old.
