Utah Forest Products Association
Dedicated to sustainable, renewable, and healthy forests

The Utah Forest Products Association (UFPA) was formed in April 2005. Jim Matson (owner of Vermillion Services of Kanab, UT) is President (jmatson@kanab.net), Ladd Bunting Vice President (Bunting@interspan.com), and Kathleen McDowell Treasurer (mcdowell@suu.edu).

Primary issues for the association include raw material supply and workers compensation rates and coverage. The association also plans to “take an aggressive role in contract clauses and appraisals (timber valuation) for Forest Service and BLM lands in the state.” UFPA will hold quarterly meetings on the second Thursay of each quarter as well as an annual winter meeting. Member categories include regular members, those directly involved in the forest products industry, and associate members, who are government employees and others with an interest in the forest products industry. Regular members can hold positions in the association, while both categories of membership are invited to vote in association elections. The membership can include all persons, businesses, agencies, and organizations interested in the forest products industry in Utah, including businesses from out of state that do business in Utah .
