Announcing the 2003 Utah Dairy Seminars
Dr. Allen Young
USU Extension Dairy Specialist
The annual Utah Dairy Seminars will be held on December 15, 16, and 17, 2003. The locations are the Snow College Conference Center in Richfield, the Conference Center on the BYU Campus (please note the site change from previous years), and the Caine Dairy Research and Teaching Center in Wellsville.
The featured speaker and George B. Caine Visiting Professor for this year will be Dr. Mike Hutjens from the University of Illinois. He will be speaking on Feeding Transition Cows, including things that work and whats new. He will also speak on Benchmarking Early Lactation Success. We feel these are important topics for all dairy farmers and that you will take home much valuable information.
Mike is a columnist for Hoards Dairyman and well-known speaker. He is the recipient of numerous national and international awards, and currently serves as Vice-President of the American Dairy Science Association. His research interest is focused on improving dry and lactating cow diets. We are lucky to be able to have him for our meetings and know you will enjoy his talks.
We will also have an update on a Johnes prevalence study in Utah herds. Bryce Blood, A Masters student in the Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences Department will report his findings.
We invite you to attend and also encourage you to bring your herdsperson or head employee.
