The 4-H and FFA junior livestock program in Box Elder County is a large youth livestock program which is held each year in conjunction with the Box Elder County Fair and Rodeo. This program provides an excellent opportunity to teach youth about livestock husbandry, work ethic, responsibility as well as interaction with other people and fair play. The market livestock carcass contests are conducted for market hogs, market lambs and market steers.
Steer and Hog carcass contest information is calculated from ultrasound data collected on all market steers and hogs entering the junior livestock show.
Participation in the Lamb carcass contest is on a volunteer basis. Information is calculated from visually inspection of each carcass.
