Welcome to Utah State University cooperative extension in Salt Lake County.  The Salt Lake County Extension provides informal education to you through workshops, mass media, demonstrations, 4-H clubs, Master Gardener Volunteers, telephone consultations, individual and group meetings, and educational bulletins.

Our focus is to provide unbiased research based educational programs that will enhance the quality of life for the citizens of the Salt Lake County.

Making the Most of Your Vegetable Garden (Daybreak) flyer                    May 14 (Wednesday)  6:30 PM - 7:30 PM.  This class will explain how to integrate season extenders, and space saving strategies to increase the bounty of your garden.  Free and open to the public.

Utah Wildflowers - Free Lecture                                                               May 15 (Thursday)  7:00 PM - 8:00 PM.  Join Dr. Paul Zuckerman at the Master Gardener general meeting for an in-depth presentation on our native flowers.  This event is free and open to the public.

Jordan Valley Water Conservation Garden Park Fair - Waterwise Deisgn  May 17 (Wednesday)  8:00 AM - 2:00 PM. This fair will give you the opportunity to speak with experts including out Master Gardeners regarding waterwise landscape design. 

Opening The Door To Home Ownership  (flyer)                                           May 21 & 28th  (Wednesday)  5:30 PM - 9:00 PM. Register by the 19th. $15 per household.    

Beneficial Insects: Nurturing Natural Pest Controls (Daybreak) flyer May 28 (Wednesday)  6:30 PM - 7:30 PM.  Come to our informative class and learn how to recognize the good guys so that you can protect and encourage natural predators.  Free and open to the public.

Excellent Waterwise Plants for Any Landscaping (flyer)                         May 29 (Thursday)  6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.  Come to this informative class presented by Maggie Shao.  She will discuss a variety of tried and true plants that are both beautiful and waterwise.  Free/open to the public.

Tarantula (1955) - FREE MOVIE                                                                 June 3, 2008 (Tuesday)  6:30 PM - 9: 00 PM.  Join us for this free screening of the movie Tarantula.  Following the movie, Christy Bills will lead a discussion.  Free and first come, first served.

2008 Annual Master Gardener Conference (registration / info                June 6 - 7, 2008.  Tours and field trips will be held Friday with a dinner at the Ogden Botanical Gardens.  Workshops will be held on Saturday.  Open to certified Master Gardener's and their spouses.

June 10 (Tuesday) 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Cost is $10 for General Public, $50 for Bankruptcy filers. 

The 4th Annual Garden Tour - People Helping People                            June 14, 2008 (Saturday) 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.  Kick off your summer with a stroll of the beautiful private gardens of the historic Avenues district. $10.00 which will be given to People Helping People.

Day-Breaking Grounds - Free Horticulture Advice (flyer)                            You've got questions, Maggie Wolf, USU Extension Horticulturist has answers.  Join her at her demonstration garden every Wednesday from June 4th through August 27th.  6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
