Weeds of Concern
Icelander Wash is located toward the east end of Carbon County, just downhill from East Carbon and Columbia. Russian knapweed was brought into the area with some livestock feed and is mostly located on BLM land.
A small stream runs through the bottom of Icelander Wash with an occasional flash flood. These waters increase the risk of spreading noxious weed seeds downstream. The rest of Icelander Wash is dry and the terrain varies from slightly sloping to steep slopes. Several years of consistent and aggressive response from the Skyline CWMA have reduced the infestation greatly and this project is on the annual watch and respond list of the CWMA.
