Carbon County Weed Control Efforts

Noxious and invasive weeds have been described as a biological wildfire throughout the Intermountain West. Utah is no exception. In order to stop the spread and reduce the damage caused by noxious and invasive weeds all landowners need to cooperate and coordinate their efforts. Landowners and government agencies in Carbon and Emery Counties have joined forces in the fight against weeds. This organization is called the Skyline Cooperative Weed Management Area (Skyline CWMA) working group.

The Skyline CWMA meets monthly throughout the year to identify and prioritize work projects involving weed issues. Work projects take place on both public and private lands. The cooperative efforts between public land agencies and private land owners has made it possible to make good progress in serveral areas where weed infestation is a concern. Click the links in the box to the right to see the 2007 projects for the Skyline CWMA.

Weed control is not a quick-fix issue. It is important for County residents and visitors to be aware of and able to identify weeds of concern.
