Rural Development

While Utah is one of the most urban states in the nation, there are many small communities throughout the state. Survival of rural communities will depend on an understanding and application of the basic economic principles that affect rural Utah. Carbon County consists of several small communities that are isolated from the metropolitan centers along the Wasatch Front by a drive of over one hour through mountainous country. The local economy depends primarily on the energy industry but community leaders are constantly trying to help diversify the economic base. The Utah State University publications to the right are based on sound research and are offered here to assist anyone interested in improving the community and/or personal economic situation.
