Tart Cherry Varieties for Box Elder County

Montmorency  - the standard sour cherry for commercial and home. Large, red fruit has firm yellow flesh and is crack resistant.

Northstar – genetically dwarf tree is excellent for the home garden.Red fruit and flesh resists cracking. Fruit ripens early but will hang on tree for up to two weeks.

Meteor – genetic dwarf reaches about 10 feet tall. Large, red fruit with yelllwo flesh. Tree is especially hardy, ideal for home gardens.

English Morello – late-ripening sour cherry is medium sized dark red. Tart, firm flesh is good for cooking and canning.
