There are many resources available to help families who may be experiencing financial difficulty.  Many local and national programs are intended to help families reach a point where they no longer need the assistance.  There is no need to feel insecure about asking for help.  These programs were created especially for you and your family.  It is important to be financially secure, and it is alright to have help getting there!

Programs available through your local department of workforce services:

• Employment assistance
• Job skills assistance
• Food Stamps
• Food Pantry
• Health Care  
• WIC

Local government programs:

• Early Head Start
• Head Start
• Life Time Learning Center
• Free Legal Services
• Centers for abused women and children
• Centers for persons with disabilities – assistance in job placement, life skills, and equal rights
• Parenting Classes
• Cooperative Extension – advice, education, and publications on cooking, agriculture, health, finances, and a variety of other topics.  Basic questions can be addressed free of charge.
• Community recreation centers and college or university sponsored events – provide low cost and educational recreation.
