Steve Broadbent and Cheryl Swenson
Steve Broadbent and Cheryl Swenson, as the Utah State University Extension business team, represent the “BEST” of Extension. Together they have provided many years of service to Extension Administration, county operations, and every individual Extension employee. They are known for treating others with dignity, fair-mindedness, and respect. They treat others very kindly, demonstrating empathy and understanding for their feelings and points of view. Steve and Cheryl are straightforward in their work exemplifying a high standard of service to all they work with. They get the job done with dispatch and class. They constantly use competent sound practices of reason and moral principle in the business roles they perform for Extension.
Their roles in establishing operational budgets, juggling state legislative allocations with federal and county budgets along with contract and grant funds make them magicians in the eyes of many. Helping the organization maintain solvency while ensuring that critical needs are met is not an easy task, but these two make it seem so. Establishing budgets; tracking myriad accounts; creating payroll; keeping track of personnel; maintaining critical records of leave; banner training; credit card policing; and making sure the bills get paid represents just the surface of the services they provide the Extension organization.
Our confidence and trust in Steve and Cheryl, as they provide the services necessary to help Extension reinvent itself in times of financial challenge, is appreciated by Epsilon Sigma Phi. ESP is pleased to recognize Steve and Cheryl with the 2009 Meritorious Support Service Award for their many years of dedicated quality service to Extension. Thank you from all of us in Extension for your many selfless acts of service, concern, and collegiality.
