Panguitch will not be hosting a 4-H Working Ranch Horse Gathering this year. We feel it is best to postpone our Gathering to allow time for greater growth, organization, and support of the Working Ranch Horse Program. Thanks to all those that have supported us over the past 5 years. We hope to have Gathering again in the Future
Thanks to all those who supported the 2011 Annual Cowboy Heritage Festival and 4-H Working Ranch Horse Gathering, We had a great turn out and the youth were the best reward anyone could ask for in putting on the event. The WRHG is an opportunity for youth to showcase their skills and abilities related to cattle handling and ranch related activities. Youth must be enrolled in 4-H as of October 1st, 2011 but will compete in 4-H age groups as of January 2011. Each participant will compete in a Test, Ranch Heading, Ranch Heeling, Ranch Sorting, and Working Ranch Horse Reining with Cow work on the fence. WRHG Registration forms are due on or before September 20, 2011. Registrations made or postmarked after the the 20th will be charged a $5.00 registration fee and will not include the free dutch oven dinner.

Open Ranch Rodeo

for event information (Contestants may ride in team event a max of four runs but must have different team makeup for each run). Please remember CASH ONLY (no checks
or credit cards) so we can payout cash to event winners. Ranch Rodeo Events at a Glance: Mutton Bustin (for our little ones)$5.00, All team events $10 per person per team: Two man Hide Race, Two man Team sorting-(three divisions youth/youth, youth/adult, and adult/adult), Three man Team Ranch Branding, and Three man Stock Trailer Load.
Extreme Horseman Challenge- For those who may be unfamiliar with the Extreme Horseman Challenge come and see this years event it is worth watching! A Horse and Rider must maneuver through and obstacle course under the pressure of time. The race course will be constructed within the indoor arena and will feature obstacles similar to those featured in previous races as well as several new obstacles. The course (may include but are not limited to) obstacles and activities such as: saddling or unsaddling the horse, dragging logs, jumping obstacles, loading into a trailer, backing up through a pattern, speed event maneuvers, roll backs, navigating a log jumble, penning cattle and working gates, conquering dirt terrain, crossing water obstacles, dragging or passing over a cow hide, roping cattle, caring objects or anything we can think of that might test a horse and rider team. The Team is judged and given points for how well they complete each obstacle and can also acquire additional points for having the fastest time. Each Horse can only compete once but a rider can ride multiple horses. Any team who does not complete the course in the allotted time is disqualified. Cost is $10 per Horse CASH ONLY.
