Secondary Online Course: Food, Land & People

The Food, Land & People (FLP), EDUC 5560 and ASTE 6400 course has been developed for secondary educators to increase knowledge about agricultural/environmental literacy while meeting statewide mandatory curriculum standards for integrated science, social studies, and career and technical education. The course content provides teachers with research-based teaching strategies. Enrollment in the course requires teachers to participate in a daylong (6-hour minimum) On-site Orientation. The orientation will include how to use course content, classroom strategies for resource implementation, and a field experience. After completing the On-site Orientation, teachers may register for the online portion of the FLP course to complete course requirements for 1-3 University credits or receive a certificate of in-service hours to use toward licensure points. Teachers may earn 1-3 Utah State University semester credit(s). FLP is an independent study year-long course. Enrollees may take up to one year to complete course requirements. EDUC 5560 is Pass/Fail and ASTE 6400 is a graded course. Each will become part of your official Utah State University transcript.
